How many stories about your life have you shared with your children or grandchildren? How many stories about your own parents and grandparents do you know?
Left untold, life stories deprive the next generation of the comfort and inspiration that comes from knowing the strength, resilience and humanity of their elders. Storytelling helps us understand the circumstances and choices that have shaped our lives, and leave behind a rich tapestry of our family history.
In her Bloom session, global speaker and storyteller, Marianna Pascal, shared 5 ways you can create a storytelling culture in your family. She shared how to get young generations interested in older generations' pasts, and showed us how to tell stories that young people (including teenagers!) want to listen to. And we all had some fun putting it all into practice!
